What did the Savior do to overcome physical death and spiritual death?
a. Through the atonement all mankind can be resurrected. Without the resurrection temporal and spiritual death would be permanent. We would be shutout from the presence of God forever and we would become subject to Satan and remain with the father of misery, lies, and deceit. Therefore, this shows that temporal death and spiritual death are become the awful monster.
b. Through the atonement of Savior, all people will be restored to God’s presence to be judged. Not all will be saved in God’s kingdom. In order to be saved, one must believe in Jesus Christ, endure the crosses of the world and the shame of the world, hearken to the voice of the Lord, repent and be baptized, endure to the end, be spiritually minded, feast upon the good word of God, remember the words of God, and pray continually and give thanks.
What attitudes and actions prevent us from receiving all the blessings of the Atonement?
a. Transgressing the commandments
b. Placing learning, money, and idols above God
c. Being spiritual deaf and blind
d. Breaking the covenants of God
e. Lying and committing murders and whoredoms
What will the Lord do for those who repent and remember the Lord?
Elder Boyd K Packer taught, “The discouraging idea that a mistake makes it everlastingly too late, does not come from the Lord. He has said that if we will repent, not only will he forgive us our transgressions, but he will forget them and remember our sins no more.
a. The people should cheer up their hearts because the Lord remembers his covenant people. The Lord is generous and this is reason to rejoice.
b. We can choose the way to everlasting death or everlasting life. We can reconcile ourselves to God and be happy. It is through Christ’s grace we are saved, he has the power to help man be forgiven of sin; he ransoms us against the demands of Justice and provides the means of escape.
