The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ is designed to help all people know that “Jesus is the Christ,…manifesting himself unto all nations.” One of the most effective ways to learn of the Savior is to read from the Book of Mormon.

Pre-Earth Life: God’s purpose and plan for us

1. Where did we come from? The plan of salvation will give us the answer to this question. Heavenly Father is the father of our spirits. We lived as spirit children with our Heavenly Father. We were not, however like our heavenly father, nor could we become like him and enjoy all the blessing that he enjoys without the experience of living in morality with a physical body. This is God’s purpose-his work and glory-to enable each of us to enjoy all his blessings. God has prepared a perfect plan to accomplish his purpose: a merciful plan, a plan of happiness, the plan of redemption, and the plan of salvation.

2. Jesus Christ is central to the plan of salvation. Satan or the devil is the enemy to God’s plan. Through Jesus Christ it is possible for us to gain immortality and eternal life.

3. Agency or the ability to choose is one of God’s greatest gift to his children. Our eternal progression depends on how we use the gift of agency. We must choose to follow the Savior or follow Satan. If we repent and are baptized, we witness to the Lord that we are willing to follow him.

4. The earth was created by Jesus Christ, as a place for us to live and gain experience. The creation is witnesses of God’s love of us and his desire for us to experience great and marvelous events and receive joy. The creation testifies that God is a loving father. Our earth experience is also probation, a time to be tested, and proven worth to receive a kingdom of glory.

5. Adam and Eve were God’s first children on the earth. Adam and Eve were God’s first children on the Earth. They were commanded not to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Obeying this commandment meant that they could remain in the garden, but they could not progress by experiencing opposition in mortality. They could not know joy because they could not experience sorrow and pain.

6. Because of the Fall, Adam and Eve were physically and spiritual separated from God. They were subject to death, disease, and all types of suffering. They had the moral agency to choose between good and evil. They were capable of making wrong choices that transgressed God’s laws which is called sin. They could have children. The fall made it possible for God’s children to progress: they could come to a knowledge of Jesus Christ, repent of their sins, and enter back into the presence of God.

7. Our purpose in this life is joy and preparing to return to God’s presence. Jesus Christ resurrection entitles all men a free gift of immortality.

8. Our moral experiences allow us to grow and distinguish good from evil. Sin leads to unhappiness and causes feelings of guilt and sorrow. God influences us to do good. Satan tempts us to commit sin. We can not overcome the effects of sin by ourselves, we need the atonement of Jesus Christ.

9. Jesus Christ atonement was a part of the plan of Salvation. Through Christ’s sufferings he overcame the obstacles of sin and death. Christ resurrection allows us to be reunited with our spirit and body after death, regardless of good or evil in our experiences. We will be judged by Jesus Christ to determine, if we can enter back into his presence. To receive these great blessing we must be cleansed from sin because God can not look upon sin in the least degree of allowance and sin prevents us from living in the presence of God.
